More Organic Gardening Topics

A goal of ORG is to demonstrate the components of a sustainable food production system by demonstration of organic recycling practices through production of quality compost and using naturally decomposing organic material to change growing media (dirt) for production of fruits, vegetables, ornamental crops, and other horticultural commodities using ecologically sensitive and economically sustainable practices.

ORG also promotes gardening education by coordinating independent study, and experiential learning opportunities to increase awareness about environmental and social issues relating to sustainable food systems by uniting people of different cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds.

Organic gardening means a personal commitment, to follow organic practices whenever possible. A matter of individual judgement, based on a given situation or circumstance with regard to human health and safety.

Organic practices as contrasted with use of man-made synthetic materials that may have negative implications for the environment (local or global ecosystem).

Organic gardening or farming is a commitment to provide the best growing conditions possible to improve plant harvests for all the human senses, including the joy of simply appreciating the time and labor expended for our health and benefit to others.
